The lives of six South African children from all races and backgrounds are explored in this documentary featuring footage shot in seven year intervals from 1992 to 2006, and offering unique insight into the social and political changes that have swept through the country since the fall of apartheid. The stories of these eleven children begin in 1992, when they were just eleven years old. It was a time of unprecedented change in South Africa, and their world was carefully divided among racial lines. Later, as they make their way through a new South Africa, the viewer becomes acutely aware of the new opportunities and challenges that await them following the fall of apartheid. Each interview is marked by an unguarded honesty that fluctuates between humorous and heartbreaking as the subjects speak openly about their unique life experiences in family, employment, education, and contending with the growing AIDS crisis that ultimately claims the lives of several participants in the film.
