The people of Earth woke up to see the skies filled with giant Orbs the size of the Dallas Cowboy's stadium. Fighter planes couldn't get closer than a quarter of a mile without their controls being taken over, resulting in them being sent back to where they came from. Rockets fired at the Orbs blew up when they smashed against the invisible shields. The President, Sterling Collier, calls his friend and personal bodyguard, Liam Biggers into the Oval Office to talk strategy only to have his friend LIam suddenly disappear and be replaced by a hologram of a man who looks like he could be from Earth. The image explains that his name is Emmelor and that he is from another planet, 300 trillion miles away. He goes on to explain that another planet in their solar system wants to wage war with them and in their culture they fight wars with just two warriors - one Champion representing each planet chosen from around the Universe to face one another in an arena to the death. Making the President swear an oath he will not reveal their conversation, Emmelor disappears, leaving the President to try and convince the world that they have nothing to fear from the mysterious orbs and that everything is ok. Meanwhile, Liam Biggers must train to fight the most deadly aliens in the Universe to defend a people he has never met and who have kidnapped him away from all he has ever known. When he meets and falls in love with his beautiful healer, Lucita, things get complicated. And, when the other alien race that declared war on Emmelor and his people breaks the rules, things get a whole lot more exciting 300 Trillion Miles from Home. EXCERPT Liam Edward Biggers opened his eyes to total darkness. He felt as though he was floating on air. When he reached his arms out, he felt what appeared to be glass. He was in a glass container of some kind, and he couldn't see anything. The only thing he could hear was the sound of air hissing. He continued to drift in and out of a dreamless sleep, for how long, he had no idea, but when he finally woke up, he was sitting in a chair with his wrists and ankles strapped to the arms and legs. A small, very thin man with pale skin was staring at him. "Mister Biggers, I'm glad to see you are finally awake. Did you have a good sleep?" Liam stared around the room. There was a bed, a dresser, two side tables with lamps sitting on them and over against one wall, a small desk and swivel chair. The last he remembered was being in the White House, the Oval Office to be exact - speaking with the President. "What have you done with the President?" Liam asked. "And how do you know my name?" "I see you woke up confused, which is understandable. Maybe some breakfast will put you in a better mood. Steak, medium, eggs over easy, toast, lightly buttered, and coffee, black. Does that sound about right?" the strange little man asked. Liam's stomach was growling from hunger, but he looked at the man and said, "I'm not hungry. Now, give me some answers or so help me, I'll do things to you that you won't like." Emmelor looked at Liam and said, "Not that it will make a difference, but I guess you should know why you are here." Liam looked at his surroundings and didn't like what he saw, as a gnawing feeling began to build in his stomach. Emmelor's next words confirmed the feeling in his gut. "You are to be a participant in the games. You will face opponents in mortal combat, each time you are called upon. Your first opponent will be from planet, X-159." "And if I refuse?" Liam asked. "Shock treatment?" Emmelor shook his head back and forth. "No. One way or another, you will be put into the arena. Whether you fight or not is entirely up to you. If you choose not to fight, your opponent will kill you and you will not have to worry about fighting anyone else. Nor will you have to worry about seeing your friend, President Collier, or your family, ever again. The choice will be entirely yours."
