NEW and updated!!! Workbook and activity book with card games. Finger Positions Made Easy teaches where the notes sit on the violin fingerboard and which finger usually plays that note. It's that easy. To play with quality and technique beyond that of the normal student, it takes a bit of thinking on your part. The fingerboard often seems like a mysterious dark forest. But by taking one position at a time, you will learn where the notes reside. Once you know where the notes sit on the fingerboard, understand this....they don't move. Mystery solved!
At this point, you must decide two things. What fingering will make the notes flow more musically? You will need to determine where the note should be played to create the tonal quality the song requires. You will know which finger plays each particular note after this 3rd Position Study and the study of the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Position Study Manuals as well.
This is why the brain benefits from taking violin and music lessons. You have to play a part in the creation of the song. An A on the D string is still the tone of an A, yet the tone has a different quality, deeper and a little darker than an open A string. To me, it sounds mellow. The A string is a warm sound, but the D string is a deep mellow tone. If I am playing a song where many of the notes are played on the D string, I will try to shift into another finger position to keep the overall feeling of the passage the same.
The goal is to allow yourself to know where the notes are so intrinsically that, without having to process the information, you can flow with the music.
The manuals, along with the matching card games, will be a fun beginning to becoming the musician I hope you have imagined yourself to be.
