The bassist was the inimitable , the drummer a young . is otherworldly on early gems like the breakneck and his solo showcase, (in which he quotes 's ). is most involved on the CD's slower pieces like and his own solo piece, ; and shine on the swinging version of and roller coaster ride of the medley. Four studio tracks (composing what was side four of the original album version) close with a flourish -- and some surprises. duets on drums with on the brief title track, then plays double drums with (as plays percussion) on the playful then throws a curve with dueting with as ten members of chant harmonies. The saxophonist gets in the last word, though, with his burning composition -- on which he plays unison lines with over ' rare walking bassline and 's most aggressive drumming.
