Until a short time ago it did not receive much attention outside the Universities but the present-day interest in social and economic questions, engendered by the great world war, has made the study of political cause and effect - the history of our various trades and industries, the many problems arising from the struggles of Labour and Capital, and so forth - absolutely necessary for those who wish to read properly the signs of the times. So we find that in all kinds of evening and continuation classes this subject is now included in the syllabus: it is probably not too much to say it is the most popular of all with those who have to earn their own living.
