Returning to Greensboro, North Carolina, after a successful five-year acting career in New York, Mabel anticipates a joyous reunion with her childhood friends Jacob and Billy. To her dismay, she finds her once inseparable friends estranged, with one claiming to have no memory of her. Seeking comfort, Mabel's father inadvertently fuels her nightmares with a bedtime story about the Boogeyman. At midnight, Mabel is startled awake by her door bursting open, and a haunting voice beneath her bed whispers, "I'm gonna get you." Thus begins a chilling journey through the late 1950s, where the boundaries between reality and the supernatural blur.
