The first of these installations was made on the Boston, Revere Beach and Lynn Railroad in 1891; the second, on the Intramural Railway at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893; the third, on the Chicago and South Side Rapid Transit Railroad in 1893 and 1894; the fourth, on the Metropolitan west Side Elevated Railroad of Chicago, in 1894 and 1895; the fifth, at Hawley, Ill.
