As a survivor of adverse childhood experiences (10: 10 ACEs) the author has gained a lot of insight and understanding into what it takes to fight for healing from the original trauma and how to deal effectively with the long-term consequences of Complex Trauma, often experienced long after the original trauma has subsided. Having had the privilege of working as frontline worker serving other through their crisis events and their healing work, the author has had a great many opportunities to assist Complex Trauma survivors and their support systems. She observed first hand that there is limited understanding and knowledge about the specific long-term consequences / struggles of those who experienced adverse childhood, which can be present long into adulthood of the individual. The book is aiming to close that gap so that unnecessary re-traumatization of the survivors and traumatization of supporters can be minimized. Human connection, meaning being met with dignity, respect, empathy and compassion are some of the most healing experiences that assist survivors on their tremendously difficult healing journey. This book is also meant as a resource for first responders, supporters, and bystanders to provide more clinical information, so that together we can make a difference., by providing trauma-informed care.
