Against the Odds is a color illustrated story of Max, a brave dog who beats the odds. Max is a cattle dog with a cleft palate. He, along with most the animals at the Pet Rescue Ranch, were saved or rescued by Mama Fuller, who runs the ranch. Despite his handicap and frequent ridicule from family and those around him, Max protects the other animals on the farm and lives the life of a true hero.
