Grace Styls' father is among the many Veterans of World War II using V.A. loan to buy a home and set down roots. Moving into the rapidly developing suburbs of Washington, D.C., not far from rural farmland, Grace slowly adapts to a different way of life. One filled with constant change due to overcrowded schools caused by the influx of young families and the continued baby boom.
Reaching her teenage years in the Camelot Era of the Kennedy Administration, Grace witnesses the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the assignation, the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement, and the demonstrations for peace, all through the eyes of TV and the nightly news. She learns to hate unrest, conflict, and change, and does her best to not be a part of it.
The first in her family to attend college, Grace reaches for a better tomorrow. Will she be able to grab the golden ring of the American Dream on the merry-go-round of life?
