Annika is young, vibrant, sexy, and knows exactly what she wants out of life. She has never had to struggle a day in her life until her father suddenly dies and leaves her all alone. Broke with hardly any money to her name, Annika is forced to grow up and become responsible, which doesn't sit well with her free-spirited personality. Depressed and hurt over the stress of her day to day life, Annika finds her life spiraling out of control. Just when she believes life is not worth living any longer, she crosses paths with a retired street thug who goes by the name of Memphis. When Memphis comes into her life and starts giving her all his time, love, and affection, Annika finds herself falling deeply in love with him. Annika's perfect image of Memphis is eventually shattered when she learns that Memphis can never be hers. Essence has been down with Annika since they were teenagers, so when Annika's father dies, Essence tries to give Annika the support she needs, but Essence finds herself having her own problems to deal with also. Essence and Kyree have been rocking together for about three years, but never did she expect for Kyree to betray her like he has. Hurt and disgusted by the man she thought loved and cared for her, Essence leaves and promises herself never to look back again. When Essence is hit with the unexpected news of being pregnant, she then realizes that she isn't ready to be a mother, and her relationship with Kyree is long dead.
