"A pair of music-themed documentaries -- a look at the public and private history of long-lived pop-rock band The Beach Boys and a profile of the group's brilliant but troubled leader, Brian Wilson -- are brought together on this tandem DVD release. The Beach Boys: An American Band has been given a full-frame transfer to disc in its original aspect ratio of 1.33:1, while Brian Wilson: I Just Wasn't Made For These Times is letterboxed at 1.66:1. The audio for both features has been mastered in Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround. Both features are in English, and while neither has been encoded with subtitles, the disc does include closed captioning in English. No bonus material has been included, but with two features clocking in at over two and three-quarters hours, music fans are unlikely to feel cheated."
