For a band who came out of the gate with tight musicians, pristine production, and an undeniable groove, they've honed these elements even further on their third full-length. Although it may seem imperceptible at first listen, is richer and classier than earlier albums, with a cohesiveness aided by the structure, which was obviously conceived with the notion that this record is a listening experience from beginning to end. That notion is aided by the brief spoken pauses throughout the album, most notably the "Introduction," which specifically aims to set the mood, going as far as to recommend the ideal setting for optimum enjoyment; in essence, low-lighting, good headphones, and a relaxed state of mind. Standout track "Little Bird" may be the greatest showcase of their talent so far, laying on thick grooves but keeping it light by embracing their cosmic side. The album essentially comprises permutations on this idea, and they never stray too far from that template, but their variation is just enough to keep it engaging. Vocals float in and out while the junction between their jazzier and psychedelic sides shifts from song to song, literally pausing as though checking in with the listener from time to time. It is no easy feat to create music designed to glide throughout a full-length album and still lodge itself deeply in the listener's mind long after the closing notes. manages to do exactly that, offering an effective way to melt the world away for 40 minutes. ~ Liam Martin
