Fourteen Year old Emily Peters and her aging father have faced challenges before. Living in the Tennessee Valley region of Alabama in the 1960's, dealing with poverty and the recent loss of her mother, Emily thought she would never face anything more difficult. But as her beautiful, warm southland changes with 'progress', she faces the loss of her childhood home, and perhaps the loss of childhood itself. So many times her mother had promised, "When God closes one door, He always opens another." Her mother's words had brought her comfort, but now in the time of her greatest challenge, would those words still prove true?
