The present volume includes reports of the work of the past year, which has been carried out on the same lines as in previous years. The scope of this work is described in the preface of Volume II.
In addition to the work growing out of the investiga tions by the Council, the Laboratory's work includes the constant examination of patent medicines and a large amount of investigation of chemical questions connected with the Propaganda and the Queries and Minor Notes departments of the journal of the American Medical Association.
