Bassist contributed seven of the nine selections to this set and takes occasional solos but he is also generous in featuring the other players. The exotic and haunting violin of contrasts well with the more conventional but no less passionate tenor of while pianist also has plenty of solo space. The interplay between and on is a highpoint as are some of the individual solos, particularly 's on " The music is , at times quite melodic, consistently stirring and filled with surprising moments, particularly when the music builds and builds to an intense level.
