One Breath Rising, a Brooklyn, NY non-profit, has been presenting 'world-class artistry in an intimate setting' since 2015. This collection is comprised of poetry and prose written by the literary artists who have performed for One Breath Rising, each of whom has been recognized for their contributions to the full American story.
Although these writers are from diverse backgrounds, their work is inspired by the African American traditions of improvisation and storytelling. They address the common themes of our day – love, grief, despair, hope, gratitude, and activism. This volume is a testament to resilience and rebirth – much needed in these days.
