Anna couldn't understand why there were people in the world who wouldn't accept her or the people in her community for being Asian. Anna was born with autism and has never felt beautiful within because of the mental challenges she faced. All her life feeling unappreciated and unworthy, she was now becoming overwhelmed with fear and decided it would be safe to never leave her home because she was afraid someone might attack her and her family for being Asian.
As Anna began building up the courage to leave her room to embark on new friendships in the world, thoughts began to race in her mind about all the people she encountered in the past that made fun of her for being born different. These thoughts brought Anna back to that dark place in her life and caused her to become sad because deep down she began to believe that there was really no hope for her in ever being accepted by others of feeling beautiful within.
In the end, Anna was able to build the courage she needed to finally leave her room and to her surprise Shaquan the beautiful butterfly was in her home awaiting to express to Anna how much she isn't alone through all of the mental anguish she was experiencing. Anna learns to overcome her difficult experiences by learning to embrace her beautiful imperfections.
