It is the desire of my heart, and I hope of yours also, to be a godly woman. Not just a godly woman outwardly, but a godly woman inwardly. There is a difference. Many Christian women fit into a mold of doing what Christian women are expected to do and they appear to be godly women. They don't participate in worldly affairs and they are faithful in the activities of their church. They are accepted as godly women but in reality, they have only outward godliness. Their hearts are cold, their attitudes are wrong and they are sometimes discontented and unhappy ladies. There is a danger in modeling our lives after other Christians. Christ is our perfect example and we must keep our eyes upon Him and follow the directions given in His Word. It takes real commitment to the Lord to achieve inward godliness but those who have inward godliness will have no problem with outward godliness. Our verse says that godliness with contentment is great gain. When we can live a godly life and be contented with our life we will have accomplished much and we will be pleasing to the Lord. These lessons will deal with the problem of discontentment and what we can do to help us become contented Christian ladies.
