The novel tells the story of Zack Walton, a young man from Magnolia, Arkansas who moves to Dallas, Texas. He moves to Dallas to explore career opportunities and reconnect to his paternal side of the family. As a child Zack was raised mainly by his Maternal Grandparents in Magnolia, Arkansas along with a host of aunts and uncles. His personal experiences with his mother's side of the family has made him feel loved, embraced and celebrated. Zack always knew of his father's side of the family but never had a deep connection to them like he does his mother's family. The Neals never tried to make a connection. When he moves to Dallas to give the Neals a second chance at a relationship, he soon finds out the reason why he never formed that relationship. Zack is about to witness up close and personal what manipulation, gaslighting, lying and narcissism is from his estranged relatives. His experience with the Neals has him in for the fight of his life and why he's the Black Sheep of the Neal Family.
