While attending school at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale Illinois, I was sitting in the Student Center. Across the hall from where I was sitting there was a potter. My attention was drawn to him, so I decided to move to where I could see better. I watched as the potter put the clay on the wheel. He began moving his feet on the pedals. As his feet moved, the wheel began to turn. Around and around the clay went. As the clay was spinning, the potter was molding the clay into something.
Suddenly, he saw a flaw. I watched him stop the wheel, crush the clay and start over. I stood there in amazement as the clay began to take shape. Such is the case for a nineteen year old college freshman point guard on the college football team in Whereabouts Texas.
On the outside it appeared his life was altogether. He had a charming girlfriend, a great start to a football career, and was getting his degree in Law. Behind the scenes there were cracks. His life was a mess. What you saw at school is not what you got in reality. He was a broken vessel. Would he ever get it together? We will have to follow him and watch the potter shape his life to see what becomes of this vessel.
