Hypertension refers to a long-term medical condition wherein the blood pressure (BP) of an individual is higher than normal. Informally, it is known as high blood pressure. It usually has no symptoms but it can increase the risk of serious health conditions such as heart disease and stroke. Blood pressure is a vital body parameter. The overall blood pressure is measured with the help of two components, namely systolic and diastolic pressure.
