The papers in these proceedings present selected articles from the Third International Business Informatics Challenge and Conference 2008, which was hosted at Dublin City University (Ireland). The papers show a wide range of technological innovations and applications of information and communications technology (ICT) and demonstrate solutions and challenges of ICT as a central element for organisations in the networked and multicultural economy of the 21st century. The aim of this international event is to exchange experience and findings between students and researchers and to encourage research in the field of Business Informatics and Information Systems. We invited bachelor and master students to submit projects and real-life case studies illustrating how technological solutions were developed and applied for effective information systems to solve the business needs of organisations.
