"Childhood Memories" is a series of diorama and paintings that represent the essences of many African American children growing up during the 1950's and the 1960's. These paintings and dioramas depict the beautiful landscapes in Southern Maryland and the relationship people had with it. Pinkie Strother, the creator of the art and the story has worked on the art series over two decades. The traditions and the lifestyle during this period in the rural south are illustrated through a variety of media. The people who lived there are depicted in drawings, paintings, and dioramas. The figurines, representing people from the community, show the basic activities of the era and each figurine depicts an actual person from the artist experience. The exhibition shows a labor of love.
