Christ, Our Savior Songbook is a 110 page collection of 45 Christian songs designed specifically for the worship service in lead sheet format with lyrics, melody and chord symbols that can easily be used by worship team leaders and members in an onstage band of vocalists, guitar, keyboard, bass and percussion. All the songs in the book are licensed with Christian Copyright International (CCLI) and have royalty numbers assigned to them for reports of usage worldwide in the catalog - The King's Court. The lyrics are available for download and church projection on a screen at ccli.com. The songs are arranged as one continuous story of God's redemptive grace through Christ, and are organized into 14 adjacent medleys for worship leaders. It is hoped that these songs will be used in church services, bible studies, evangelistic concerts, Christian schools & camps, and any function where the Body of Christ gathers for praise to our Lord, Jesus Christ. In reference to the key structure of the songs and the modulations used, I chose keys that the congregation can easily sing, and the average guitarist can play. When certain keys are used, a separate score for the guitar is added with instructions for the use of a capo. The bass note is included at the bottom of chord symbols. Instrumental introductions and interludes are marked in the scores and they are to be played on the piano, or by any appropriate available instrument. These short themes may be raised or lowered an octave to accommodate the instrument desired.Optional solos are marked in many of the songs. This is an excellent way to give trained vocalist within the church an opportunity to share the gifts that God has given them. It also gives diversity to the music by allowing time for the church body to reflect on the message of the song.About The Canons - There are several canons (rounds) in this book that can be performed in a variety of ways. Here are some possible suggestions:1) Learn the canon melody well before attempting to incorporate the successive entrances (additional canon parts).2) Use instruments only to play the additional canon parts - this will maintain the beauty of the music, and allow for the lyrics to be heard and understood more clearly.3) After the congregation has learned the song, try having the worship team sing the additional canon parts. 4) Finally, try dividing the congregation and have them sing the additional canon parts if desired.
