Amphotericin B is a polyene antifungal agent with in vitro activity against a wide variety of fungal pathogens. The administration of amphotericin B can be associated with adverse effects that occur after repeated administrations of the drug such as water and electrolyte disturbances, the most concerning toxicity and the one on which most studies have focused remains nephrotoxicity.
