Crush is comprised of poetry that was written by Ms. Niebuhr in young adulthood to her late 30s. The poetry talks of being in the spoils of addiction to hope in recovery. Others talk of uncomfortable feelings and growing pains, love, and loss. Being a victim of a rape and eight hour beating led to poems like Worthlessness and The Victim. This also caused her problems with violence as expressed in Fire of My Fury. There is poetry from being hospitalized with schizophrenia and, finally, there are many poems of hope. These are the lessons Ms. Niebuhr had to learn, expressions of her devotion, and strength in her choices. I hope you enjoy this book and are able to pass it along to a friend.
