Cyne is hopeless and helpless, after suffering the loss of her emperor and lover, Medwyn. As she tries to gather up the pieces of her broken life, Medwyn's body is stolen. Unable to return it or say goodbye, Cyne is forced to live on without the bardic prince. However, when she and her friends are approached by a Mirati messenger with news of Medwyn's body, and a way to bring him back, Cyne leaps at the opportunity. Vowing to bring him back to life, she and her friends embark on a mission and magical trial to pull back his soul from the other side.
