This United States Army Medical Corps manual, Department of the Army Pamphlet DA PAM 600-4 Army Medical Department Officer Professional Development and Career Management March 2020, outlines officer professional development and career management programs for each of the Army Medical Department's six corps. Although it does not prescribe a path of assignments and educational opportunities that will guarantee success, it does describe the full spectrum of developmental opportunities and programs that officers can expect throughout their careers. In addition, this pamphlet provides guidance on leader development concepts and responsibilities, information on opportunities for Army Medical Department com-mand positions, offers detailed information on development and management of Reserve Component Army Medical Department officers, and outlines Army promotion policy including special considerations for Army Medical Department officers.
This pamphlet applies to the Regular Army, the Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States, and the U.S. Army Reserve, unless otherwise stated. During mobilization, procedures in this publication can be modified to support policy changes as necessary.
