The constitution of man is not always dictated by the life he has led but sometimes by the circumstances of fate. Such is the case of Remy Broulette. When an unforeseen tragedy strikes, Remy willingly joins the world of the French Nzumbe under the watchful eye of the Voudoun Queen who created him. Yet as time passes, all is not as it seems, and Remy must fight the demons living within as the wanton lust for souls consumes him. When the young Revel DeMarquis arrives in New France, Remy is presented with the opportunity to begin his life anew as their strange and complicated friendship forms. Revel becomes obsessed with saving his friend, and those in his path, from utter destruction as the years continue to pass. When the battle lines are drawn, Immortal and Immortal will stand against each other, and the only question left unanswered is who will survive the final battle as the Consummate of New Orleans is chosen, and Remy is forced to face his past.
