He is helped by a rogue alien entity that is tired of being an instrument of destruction but who, to avoid detection by its race, can only speak to Dave. His task is simple, contact the leadership of the world, tell them he has spoken to an alien and that they need to give up every advance developed within the last thousand years. The problem is that they have to believe him and then actually convince people to do it.
