Lucero also has written the science fiction novels The Death Firm and The Re-creation of the Death Firm, and the dark fantasy novel Night Shadow. Lucero grew up in McPherson, Kansas. She graduated from McPherson High School and Fort Hays State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in communications. She also attended Hutchinson Community College, where she majored in journalism. She is married to Jeremy Shapiro and has a son. She currently resides in Newton, Iowa. She is an administrative assistant I-data and records at Grinnell College. During her spare time, she loves to travel, read, listen to music, run, and spend time with her family.
