Henry Aldrich first appeared as a small minor character in the play WHAT A LIFE. The singer Rudy
Vallee saw the play and wanted to have Henry and the Aldrich family adapted into a radio format.
The radio show became very popular so it was inevitable that Henry Aldrich would be presented in
movies, television and of course, comic books.
Dell Comics began publishing HENRY ALDRICH in May of 1950 and the series would last twenty-two
issues. There is hysterically funny writing by John Stanley and Gaylord Du Bois and wildly entertaining
artwork by Bill Williams. The series stars teenager Henry Aldrich, his parents Sam and Alice Aldrich,
his sister Mary Aldrich, best friend Homer Brown, Henry's girlfriend Geraldine Love and his occasional
nemesis George Bigelow. There is lots of teenage humor centering on high school, dating, camping,
jalopies, part-time jobs, dances and mostly good natured hijinks.
DELL COMICS' HENRY ALDRICH is the perfect book for fans of A DATE WITH JUDY, FRECKLES, ERNIE,
LEAVE IT TO BEAVER and those wacky kids in Riverdale.
THIS BOOK IS AVAILABLE IN BOTH HARDCOVER AND TRADE PAPERBACK EDITIONS AS WELL AS IN FULL
COLOR AND BLACK & WHITE.
