However, the contradictions within Laurent Kabila and the AFDL'S inner circle paved the way to the creation of the new armed organizations such as the Comité des Pouvoirs du Peuple (CPP) and the Rassemblement Congolais pour la Démocratie (RCD). The later as RCD-Goma, not only mismanaged the economic sectors under their administration, but they had equally criminalized access to the mineral resources. The split in the RCD into RCD-Goma and RCD-Kisangani was engineered by Uganda as a means of acceding to mineral and other resources around Kisangani, where they fought Rwanda three times. National pride was part of the calculus to see which country wa militarily stronger.
The whole in-fighting between Rwanda & Uganda and their respective allies created a state of destabilization particularly in the Ituri District, which paved the way to the Inter Congolese Dialogue. The dialogue led to the unification of the DRC and an "inclusive national government of transition" (2003-2006) headed by Joseph Kabila. The young Kabila went on to reign a total of 15 years through after winning the 2006, 2011, and up the much-delayed 2018 Elections. The Félix Tshisekedi is the first no warlord to be elected peacefully and nearly-democratically. However, he has inherited a system of corruption, political beliefs, economic organizations and practices straight out of the Liberation Movements with their many puppet governments.
