When Seren turned twenty, he was branded a failure for all the world to see. Cast out from society, friendless and penniless, every day is a struggle for Seren to survive and few are interested in helping him. Half-starved and barely holding on, Seren waits for the coming of winter which will surely claim his life. When the first snowstorm of the year hits, Seren sits, ready to die, when he hears a child crying out for help. Seren's attempt to help the child changes his fate and brings him to the god he worshiped from afar, who, as it happens, was always rather intrigued by him.
