English description: This study analyses aspects of the archaeology and history of the period of the Turk Qaghanats in Central Asia (ca. A.D. 550-750). A main focus is to assess the political, social and cultural interrelations between the pastoral nomads of the Turkish steppes and the contemporary oasis societies of Pre-muslim Mawarannahr. The analysis is based on archaeological as well as literary and epigraphical data which for the first time are presented both in full detail. German description: Die vorliegende Studie untersucht Aspekte der Archaologie und Geschichte der 'Altturkenzeit' in Zentralasien (ca. Mitte des 6. bis Mitte des 8. Jahrhunderts). Im Fokus der Untersuchung stehen Wechselbeziehungen zwischen den Pastoralnomaden der politischen und kulturellen Sphare den Turk-Nomaden und der sesshaften Bevolkerung der Oasen des Mawarannahr. Die Grundlage der Analyse bilden archaologische, literarische und epigraphische Quellen, die erstmals gleichberechtigt und im direkten Vergleich zu Wort kommen.
