English summary: The present volume is based on an interdisciplinary colloquium of the Archaeological Institute of the University of Cologne and the "Centre for Mediterranean Cultures". The aim was to examine the region quite different critical development of the 3rd Century in the Rhine and Danube and its inpact, which led to the formation of the "Gallic Empire". Classicists, historians and archaeologists will present and discuss selected aspects of the topic in current form. German description: Der vorgelegte Band basiert auf einem Interdisziplinaren Kolloquium des Archaologischen Instituts der Universitat zu Koln und des "Lehr- und Forschungszentrums fur die antiken Kulturen des Mittelmeerraumes", welches die Untersuchung der regional durchaus unterschiedlichen krisenhaften Entwicklung des 3. Jahrhunderts an Rhein und Donau und deren Auswirkung, die letztlich zur Formierung des "Gallischen Sonderreichs" führte, zum Ziel hatte. Altphilologen, Althistoriker und Archaologen prasentieren und diskutieren ausgewahlte Aspekte des Themas in aktueller Form.
