All Fred ever wants is to have a friend, but with a protective mother, he is profoundly challenged to find one. On his way home from school, Fred discovers a lost puppy and hopes to take him home. When nobody claims the puppy, Fred is elated with his new pet not realizing that the puppy belongs to an old man, Vince, who lives down the street. Sad that he needs to return the puppy with its respective owner, Fred discovers that doing small things for Vince is what leads to a great friendship.
