"Jayne Mansfield brings cheesy life to this fascinating but oddly pitched crime drama shot in Yugoslavia in 1964, and given new life in this DVD release. Dog Eat Dog has received a letterboxed transfer to disc in the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1, and has also been enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16 x 9 monitors. The image is crisp and clean throughout, and the sharp contrasts of Riccardo Pallottini's camerawork are beautifully rendered in this release. The audio on this edition is in English, with optional subtitles in English but no multiple language options; the sound is rich and clear, especially given the age of this picture. As a bonus, this DVD includes the film's original trailer (in which the narrator refers to the movie by its British release title, When Strangers Meet), a gallery of production stills and ad artwork, and two bits of newsreel footage featuring Mansfield, one from a vacation in Europe just prior to the making of Dog Eat Dog. Considering the obscurity of this title, Dark Sky Films has done a great job bringing it to DVD, and fans of '60s genre cinema will eat this up."
