When I first encountered Rahab the Harlot, a woman found in the Holy Bible's book of Joshua, I could not see past what she did for a living. I could not see that she was created to help God with His mission to bring the children of Israel into their destiny. I could not see that she was created to deliver her family from destruction. I could not see that she was an intelligent businessperson that risked all she had to save people that she did not know. Rahab became a part of a picture that was bigger than herself. She became a part of salvation for the world. I have grown to love Rahab and all that she stands for. I get her and I strive to be like her, able to move from the past into the promise, to live a life of abundance and be a part of a bigger picture, to love and help others, and to accept the deliverance of God for myself and my family.
