In this novel we relive the events in the life of Jack Victor, Assistant Professor as he faced a moral dilemma and violated his personal code of ethics. What he subsequently did would result in his untimely death; a result of his fatal selling out of his principles. When Assistant Professor Jack Victor accepted an appointment to the Midland General Hospital Board of Directors merely to gain tenure points he had no idea what was ahead of him. The Hospital's financial experiences of losing money the last five quarters put the Hospital in a precarious position. So when a syndicate led by local physicians offered a bid to purchase the Hospital some board members considered the offer as a way out of the current mess. Jack Victor did not foresee what a tangled web he would be caught in. The resultant vote by the board and its decision left the college professor with feelings of guilt and despair. He no longer was productive and efficient at the University. His increased drinking caused conflicts between him and his wife Gabriella. When things got to the ultimate breaking point he decided that to save his marriage and career he needed to confront the physicians. After an angrily and heated confrontation Jack left the meeting Ultimately, an arrest is made and a trial begun. But could a relatively young and inexperienced prosecuting attorney be fair match for the more experienced, crafty, sly and highly successful defense attorney? Can Jack Victor's reputation be saved? Will Gabriella find peace and happiness and will Gary Riggs finally be with the long lost love of his life?
