"FATED . . . but I never wanted to be a teacher" has been likened to James Herriot (All Creatures Great and Small) meets Brian Glover (the P.E. Teacher in Kes) It is an HILARIOUS comic autobiography about the trials and tribulations of a young teacher who endured twenty years working in Cleveland schools. As a youngster, James Masters hadn't the slightest intention of going to university, and at eighteen had already taken out the forms to become a Physical Training Officer in the RAF. Through a number mishaps and coincidences he qualified as a teacher, but still unsure that this really was the job for him, attempted to leave on three separate occasions: - but, he kept being thrown back like a boomerang (or was that a bad penny?) The book has previously been distributed as an ebook through Amazon, where up to now it has received eleven reviews and rated 4.8 stars (one of the reviewers claiming that the grammar wasn't very good!) The Author agrees! - but it was never intended to rival Dickens or Shakespeare, just to be funny and easy to read. I think it more than achieves these objectives!!! This is what some of the other readers say: - Michael B: - "An interesting account of a young teacher in 70's / 80's North East England. . . it's an easy read and once I'd dipped into it simply had to read from cover to cover. Go James, look forward to the next!" Sue C: - " A master piece, . . . written up so well......giggling from start to finish....absolutely the best [money] I've spent in a long time..." Axel: - "Cracking entertainment. Brought me right back to my school days. Mind you........... I did go to one of the schools featured in the book!!" John P: - "An entertaining journey! A very warming, funny, and thought-provoking read. Brought back fond memories . . . Looking forward to reading more." W. Lidster: - "A Must Read. A fun & compelling read, that all former pupils of "Hawksmount" School ought to read!!! It's understandable, but a shame, that names had to be changed lol!!!" Karen T: - "Loved reading this book. Brought back loads of memories....Good times" And finally, John R: - You should most certainly think about a follow up to your book. . . . Clever writing it gripped me. . . . I laughed, I cried. What a good read.
