A stylistic cross between Cape Fear and Fatal Attraction, this psycho-sexual thriller tells the tale of a sweet 16-year-old girl whose dream lover turns out to be a murderous nightmare. Nicole Walker (promising newcomer Reese Witherspoon) has just moved from LA to Seattle to live with her father Steve (William Peterson), his much-younger new bride Laura (Amy Brenneman) and their son Toby (Christopher Gray). Her new home-life isn't bad, but she feels isolated as her father expends most of his energy on work and his new wife. Dreamy Nicole fantasizes about having the perfect '90s-style hunky but sensitive lover. One night she and her sophisticated pal Margo (Alyssa Milano) attend a downtown rave party and meet David (Mark Wahlberg. She thinks he's her wish come true and early on he proves to be gentle, respectful and quiet. Even her parents like David, though her father feels a little threatened by David's presence in his daughter's life. Unfortunately soon after Nicole and David finally consummate their love, a darker side of David emerges and Nicole finds herself fighting to save her family and herself.
