Fearless, The Amazing Boy with Special Abilities, which is a short-story children's book about my son Amir who is severely disabled. The story starts out as a typical start of his day to day, which includes him going to a school that cares for medically fragile children. In the story he often as I call it "Plays Possum" or has his eyes closed because he seems uninterested in school. However, when he returns home from school and goes to sleep at night, that is when the real adventure begins. He is a superhero in his dreams along with three other children. In the dream world their disabilities in reality makes them superhero's in the dream world. For instance, Amir has a rare form of epilepsy and is nonverbal and wheelchair bound, in the dream world he can fly and is incredibly strong. Another character has autism and is a genius who controls a robot by using his watch. The last two characters are blind and deaf and the deaf character has supersonic hearing and the blind character shoot lasers from her eyes and can move objects with her mind. They save anyone out of dangerous situations and the dangerous situation in the end gets resolve with a learning lesson to prevent it.
Fearless celebrates the strength and positive imagination that is limitless despite disabilities. This book empowers disabled ones to feel represented in a way that makes them feel included! No matter our limitations, we all can be fearless!
