is the duo of guitarist and multi-instrumentalist , two Chicago-based artists active with numerous projects and collaborations, including many on and along with artists like , , and members of . Their debut album operates at the intersection of ambient, improvisation, and cosmic Americana, with gentle, multi-tracked guitar melodies and reverberations set atop vast, raga-like drones. The opening title track is serene and subtly psychedelic, with lonesome steel guitar notes ringing out over glowing organ, occasionally refracted into haunting echoes. "The Swarm" gets more mysterious and playful, with swirling, sparkling organs playing patterns that bring to mind Ethiopian jazz shrouded in a mystical haze. The more Krautrock-ish "Ripple in High Tide" is propelled by a bobbing, two-note bassline, with tremolo-kissed guitar dancing over uplifting keyboard splashes. The title of the last piece, "Sunset Saturn," is a fitting way to describe the way the duo conjure the openness of the desert as well as the infinity of space. It's the most peaceful, meditative, and uplifting selection on the album, sending the listener off into an elevated state of reverie. ~ Paul Simpson
