Erin McDunn, during high school, unknowingly became involved with a boy, Trent, who was involved with a gang. Her mother wisely sent her to finish high school with her aunt who lived amongst the Amish. Through her aunt's lavender boutique, she came to know an Amish boy, Noah Yoder, when selling their homemade products at a nearby Crofter's Barn. During her first year at a community college, she bumps into Noah again during his rumspringa while working construction, where after they become friends, tutoring him to obtain his GED. However, the ultimate betrayal occurs when Noah's roommate, who is the boss's son, puts roofies in their soda and takes advantage of Erin, attempting to set Noah up. Erin returns to her aunts discovering she is pregnant, and goes into hiding when her past stalks her because she knows too much. Realizing she must leave the area, 'Baby Grace' is adopted by a 'childless' Amish family. Sixteen years later after being deemed safe, Erin once again returns to her aunt's home, now a widow with a young son. Almost immediately, she bumps into widower Noah and discovers Grace, who is having difficulty in complying with the rigid rules of the Amish as a teen. Forming a relationship with Grace who is quite gifted similar to herself, Erin must walk a fine line between her relationship between Noah, Grace, and the Amish community. In addition, Grace also becomes involved with a local pastor's son during her rumspringa while maintaining a friendship with an Amish preacher's son, Eli. Can Erin provide guidance to Grace while suppressing her increasing feelings towards Noah, both who live in different worlds? Will independent Grace continue her relationship with a pastor's son outside the community or return to her family and friends within? Join Erin and Grace as they must make complicated decisions that will affect their futures for the ones they've come to love.
