Forgiving the enemy for what they have done to you is a great act of love that you can bestow upon yourself and others, but especially yourself.
When you forgive you are saying, I love me more than I hate you. You are saying, I am more interested in my success than in your demise. I care more about loving me that I do about hating you.
Forgiveness is more for you than it is for the enemy. It releases you from the physical and emotional pain of being tormented any more. The enemy is no longer inflicting pain on you literally, but by you living in unforgiveness you are continuing to give the enemy control over you figuratively enough to bring you down with them, without them laying a finger on you or speaking any ungodly utterances anymore.
