This touching saga follows the remarkable life of a simple, innocent man who finds himself in extraordinary, history-making situations. It features amazing special effects. The film chronicles his life from the '50s up through the '80s and is narrated by Gump. As a boy in Greenbow Alabama, the mildly retarded (a 75 IQ) and slightly crippled Forrest was the butt of childhood cruelty. His only friend was Jenny, a sexually abused child, who became the love of his life. During those thirty years Gump becomes a football star, meets George Wallace and JFK, wins the congressional medal of honor in Vietnam, meets LBJ, spends the night with the Black Panthers, becomes an international ping-pong champion, plays a role in Watergate, develops a multi-million dollar shrimp empire with a buddy, and becomes a jogging guru as he runs across the country several times. His love Jenny is on a different and self-destructive road that leads her to become a stripper, a hippy, a radical and finally a single mother. Gump always loved her unconditionally and in the end provides her with the peace she always sought.
