collects four songs each by

the Cookies

. The format is interesting because it gives listeners more chance to discover the groups involved than a collection with only one song per artist, yet it doesn't wear them out with too many non-hit recordings. The selections for each group are well chosen.
The Shangri-Las
' picks are especially nice as they really give a good feel for the melodrama the band traffics in. The rest are fine too, though it would have been nice to hear four
Cookies
songs instead of slipping an
Earl-Jean
(one of
) solo single in. This disc would be a nice purchase for a
novice who wants a slightly more focused experience. Anyone who really wants a complete
experience should track down collections by each of the artists here however, especially
