FROM CANAANITES TO AFRO-PALESTINIANS: CRUSHING THE AFRICAN LEGACY OF THE LEVANT is a history which focuses on the particular origins of the Black Palestinians, the descendants of the original Canaanites. Though the land of Canaan, which is now the present region of the Levant, was always seen through the eyes of the religious corpus, the fate of the Canaanites, wrongly said to have disappeared, has never been considered important enough for the scholars. Their descendants, the modern day black Palestinians have not only been crushed and Arabized due to centuries of foreign occupation, but were said to only be the sons of enslaved West Africans so as to reject any blood attach of the region to an ancient African past. Such loss led them to the destruction of their identity. It is through a deep research and an important critique of history that author and historian VKY (Victoria Kabeya) highlights the most fascinating aspects of the Canaanite identity beginning in the Bronze Age. She explains why and how the invasions led by Alexander The Great could be considered as the beginning of the end in the history of Canaan.
It is advised to read the previous works regarding the Black Israeli and Black Palestinian identity in order to understand this work.
